A new parking scheme has been introduced at a retirement complex in Bromsgrove after access to homes was being "hampered" by non-residents.

Bromsgrove District Housing Trust, which owns the land, confirmed that ANPR cameras are now in force at the Windsor Gardens independent living scheme.

The retirement complex offers housing and facilities to people aged over 60, but access to the homes was proving a problem for residents due to inconsiderate parking by those who do not live on the site.

The problem had also started to cause issues for visitors and carers trying to visit elderly residents and relatives as well as the emergency services as vehicles were blocking the road that leads to the scheme.

"Unfortunately, access to the scheme for residents, their visitors, carers and the emergency services have been hampered in the past by vehicles on the road that leads onto the scheme.

"All our residents and their visitors that are allowed to park on-site can pre-arrange their parking with an easy-to-use online system.

"The local community wanting to park near to Bromsgrove High Street can use the nearby Windsor Street car park."

For those wanting to park on the site, visitors must either have a valid 'e-permit' or should scan the QR code to register their vehicle.

Anyone who wants to park near Bromsgrove High Street should use the Windsor Street car park to avoid a £100 parking charge.
