TRIBUTES have been pouring in for a Bromsgrove footballing "legend" who has died aged 60.

Mark Crisp has been described as a Bromsgrove Rovers "icon," making more than 300 appearances for the club and scoring 91 goals.

He has been remembered for his famous goal against Barnsley in the FA Cup Third Round tie in the 93/94 season.

In a statement, Bromsgrove Sporting said: "Last week, we lost a true Bromsgrove footballing icon; Rovers legend Mark Crisp.

"Everybody at Sporting wishes to offer our heartfelt condolences to Mark’s family and friends at this sad time".

The club has also shared a tribute from his son Max. He said: “Firstly, as a family, we wanted to thank everyone for the kind messages and memories that they have shared about my dad.

"My dad played for Bromsgrove for a number of years, as well as being well known in the town, and we have taken a lot of comfort from the outpouring of love from everybody.

"He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and will always be remembered for that goal versus Barnsley".

He added: "If you would like to pay your respect to ‘Kipper’, the funeral details are: Thursday 24th October at 2pm, St John’s Church.

"The wake will then be held at Sporting after the service, where everyone is welcome to come and celebrate a true legend.”

Tributes and messages of condolence have been shared on social media.

Tony Turpin said: "Sad news, a great guy on and off the pitch. Condolences to family".
