BROMSGROVE MP Bradley Thomas has been appointed to serve as parliamentary private secretary to the shadow energy security and net zero team.
In his new role, Mr Thomas will be supporting the shadow secretary of state for energy security and net zero, Claire Coutinho, and her team as they hold the government to account.
He will also continue to serve on the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee.
Made up of a cross-party group of MPs, the committee scrutinises the policy, spending and administration of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and its public bodies, including Ofgem and the committee on climate change.
Following his appointment by the leader of the opposition, Kemi Badenoch, Mr Thomas said: “I'm delighted to have been appointed parliamentary private secretary to the shadow energy security and net zero team.
“Having worked in the energy sector before becoming an MP, I'm aware of the challenges and the opportunities that we face.
“I’ll be working with the formidable Claire Coutinho and her team to scrutinise the government's work to ensure we deliver energy security without deindustrialising our country or by undermining our competitive economic edge.”
