Kind-hearted residents have been bringing festive joy to families in support of the Christmas Cracker appeal.

Residents at Cofton Park Manor care home on Lickey Road have got in early to donate festive gifts to Beacon Church Centre's Christmas fundraiser.

The gifts for the Christmas Cracker appeal, which included art materials, jewellery, stationary and puzzles, will be used to raise funds for the church, which will put the money towards its Welcome Space Breakfast.

Cofton Park Manor resident Keith Marsden, aged 81, said: "I am really happy to be part of this worthy cause."

89-year-old resident Pat Peach, who has been a member of Beacon Church for 60 years, said: "I am thrilled to be able to continue to support the children."

The Beacon Church Centre, which is located on Whetty Lane in Rubery, is home to several community groups and supports local families throughout the year.

The Welcome Space Breakfast provides free meals to local children whilst adults pay a nominal amount.

Cofton Park Manor wellbeing coach Gail Bessent said: "It’s nice to know that we are helping children and their families at this time.

"It can be a very stressful time of year, and we hope our donations make some difference."

Cofton Park Manor community relations manager Wendy Sibley said: "Our residents are always keen to reach out to our community.

"We were thrilled to be able to support Beacon Church and we were more than eager to help with this cause."

Jacque Canvin, from the Beacon Church Centre, added: "Thank you to Cofton Park Manor for the toys that you have sent to help us raise funds at our Beacon Church Centre Christmas Cracker."
