CATSHILL residents are due to start a clean up operation after their gardens were flooded by a nearby stream.

Residents of cottages in Church Road had water cascade into their gardens after the adjacent stream overflowed at the weekend.

Advertiser/Messenger reader Tony Webb, who lives in one of the cottages, took photos of the stream and his flooded back garden.

He said: “We were on our way on holiday on Saturday when we got a call from a neighbour who said the stream had flooded “By the time we got back it had flooded the garden including a shed we use as an office and we lost items in there including computer equipment.

“At its worst the water was knee deep in the garden. The stream has flooded before and work has been carried out to clean it up. We keep asking the council to do some work as something major needs to be done as there is silting and it needs to be sorted out.”

A Bromsgrove District Council spokesperson said in the past they had cleaned the brook on request but believed the county council had now taken responsibility for it.
