BROMSGROVE Rovers captain Dennis Pearce has called on the club’s players to put aside uncertainty over their places and enjoy their football.

Rovers face their second home game in a row on Saturday when they welcome undefeated AFC Sudbury (3pm).

A first home win of the season against Sutton Coldfield Town boosted morale under new boss Rod Brown.

Pearce, who played under Brown at Redditch United, said the win had done the players good and they were trying to concentrate on building a run, with the distractions of the FA Cup out of the way.

He said: “It is a new manager here and inevitably there are going to be a few comings and goings as there has been already.

“But the starting 11 and other members of the squad need to put it to the back of their minds, because it is still early days and we are not far behind the leaders.

“One club might well make a break for the top up until Christmas and then hit a brick wall - I have seen it happen - and we have to be consistent and make sure we are not far behind them when they do.

“The team spirit is good here, it is a good set of lads and now we have a very experienced manager to play under.

“But whoever the manager is, we are here to play football and hopefully enjoy it, especially when we win.

“I certainly enjoyed it on Saturday and the crowd responded well.

“We need to do the same against Sudbury on Saturday because that will be a tough game, but then there are not going to be many easy ones in this league.”

New signings Rapinder Gill, Kevin Banner, Reese Styche and Chris Dickenson all featured in the Sutton Coldfield game l The club is running a ‘kids for a quid’ scheme for the AFC Sudbury game. All under-16s will be let into the ground for £1.
