A DAUGHTER has hit out at a housing trust after her 90-year-old dad has been left waiting for a much-needed walk-in shower for more than two years.
Henry Tomkins lives in sheltered housing Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) accommodation off Wood Lane, in Fairfield.
When he moved in two and a half years ago his daughter, June Ward, claimed they were told by a member of staff at the time that there would be a walk-in shower at the property within six months.
She says the staff member also wrote down Mr Tomkins’ requirements.
But Mrs Ward, from Bromsgrove, says despite repeated requests to various members of staff nothing has been done.
“The property my dad lives in only has a bath and although he is agile for his age, we still need a shower. I have kept asking the different staff members what is happening and they have said they are chasing it up, but nothing has been done.
“My dad is now 90 and getting in and out of the bath is harder. I worry he could fall at any time. As he gets older he needs the shower facility more and more.”
Barry Stevens, project manager at BDHT, said: “We are not aware of any direct requests from Mr Tomkins for any specific adaptations.
“Following a call from Mr Tomkins’ daughter, we have arranged to complete an inspection of Mr Tomkins’ property to assess his needs. If we feel any adaptations are required, we will advise Mr Tomkins and his family as to the correct procedure for getting these works undertaken,” added Mr Stevens.
