A SIDEMOOR resident is encouraging more people to sign a petition to save two former school buildings in Bromsgrove.
Mark Anthony France, of Perryfields Crescent, is acting secretary of Bromsgrove Save the Old Schools Campaign. He says that so far more than 500 signatures have been collected from people who want to see the former Parkside middle and Meadows first school buildings retained.
“We are now stepping up the effort and I have sent off emails to get the petition out to more people. We want to prevent the demolition of the old schools, so we are relying on gaining as much support as possible for the petition.
“The former Parkside is a lovely Edwardian building and there is no need to knock it down. There needs to be more consultation.”
The prime site of the redundant former Parkside building is earmarked for the town’s new combined police and fire station. The Bromsgrove Society has applied to English Heritage for the 96-year-old building to be listed.
