LANDLORDS in Bromsgrove are being invited to attend a special surgery later this month to update themselves on new legislation.
From October 1 this year, it will be mandatory for landlords to make energy performance certificates available to tenants as part of the letting process.
The surgery is a Bromsgrove District Council initiative.
Jenny Delorenzo, the authority’s housing initiatives officer, said: “It is essential all landlords know about any changes in the law that affect them and their tenants. We are holding this surgery to tell them all about energy performance certificates and we hope as many landlords as possible will come and join us to find out all about them.”
Each certificate will last for ten years and will consist of a colour chart showing the energy performance and environmental impact of the property, as well as a list of appropriate improvements which could be made to the property.
The district council, in partnership with Worcestershire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, is inviting all landlords throughout the district to attend the surgery on Thursday, September 25, at The Council House in Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove.
They will be able to collect information on the new legislation and find out what assistance is available.
Officers will also be available to answer questions landlords may have.
