AN Aston Fields woman is gearing up to compete in the Great North Run to raise money for motor neurone disease sufferers.
Rachel Prince is taking up the challenge on behalf of her father, who has just lost his battle with MND. Rachel wants as many people as possible to sponsor her because she feels indebted to the charity and she wants to help other sufferers.
The 42-year-old said: “It is a terrible disease and there is no known cure for it. Dad was diagnosed earlier this year and ever since then the charity has been extremely helpful and caring.”
Rachel can regularly be seen around the local area running with her dog Betty, which helps keep both of them fit.
Joining her on the half marathon, on Sunday, October 5, which usually attracts about 25,000 runners, will be her friends Roni and Julia.
