THE Bromsgrove Community Safety Partnership is looking for volunteers to help clear up Catshill village.
The clear-up, on Saturday, October 11, is being held as part of Hope 08, a national Christian event.
The project, organised by local churches, will involve picking up litter, removing graffiti, carrying out basic repairs, and cutting back overgrown vegetation.
It takes place from 10am to 12 noon, with volunteers asked to meet at the Milton Road Baptist Church at 9.45am.
Sgt Nick Husbands of Bromsgrove Police, one of the organisations which makes up Bromsgrove Community Safety Partnership, said he hoped the event would be successful.
“Members of the local policing team will be taking part, along with Neighbourhood Wardens, representatives of Bromsgrove District Housing Trust and volunteers from churches, but it would be nice to see members of the local community there as well,” he said.
“If graffiti and litter is just left, an area quickly looks uncared for, which adds to the fear of crime and can encourage further vandalism.
“We want to encourage people to have pride in their community, roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.”
