A YOUNG moto-cross rider has been airlifted to hospital after crashing while practicing for a race in the grounds of a Bromsgrove hotel yesterday (Sunday, September 28).
The incident took place at an organised event at the Grafton Manor Hotel, on the outskirts of the town.
A rapid response vehicle was on scene within five minutes and was backed up by the County Air Ambulance from Strensham.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The ambulance staff were told that the nine year old lad, who comes from Worcester, had been practicing on his motorbike while waiting to race when he lost control and went over his handlebars.
“On arrival they found the youngster was in a lot of back pain. He was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being airlifted to Worcester Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
