President Christine Bould welcomed members and visitors to the September meeting held at Holy Trinity Church, Lickey.
A December outing to the Christmas markets at Bath was announced.
Names were taken for the Worcestershire Federation Autumn Council meeting and for the Bromsgrove & Hillside Group Meeting, both of which fall in October.
The speaker for the evening was Carol Hardy, president of Wolverley WI, who gave an inspiring talk entitled From Athens to Beijing. Carol recounted the athletic career of her daughter, Lucy Wainwright, who represented Britain in the kayaking events in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. There were four lucky raffle winners and the competition for A Foreign Postcard was won by Pat Schofield.
The annual meeting of Lickey WI will be held at the parish hall on Tuesday, October 7, together with a bring and buy stall. Members are invited to display examples of their hobbies and crafts. The competition will be for The Last Rose of Summer.
