A CHARITY drive begins with a fundraiser organised by two Lickey End residents who lost their daughter to cot death syndrome.
Rachel and Matt Kinchin wanted to “give something back” to the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) who supported them after the loss of their eight-month old twin daughter in 2003.
They have organised a charity night, at Lickey End Social Club in Alcester Road, which will feature live music from popular tribute band Jam DRC and local duo Spoz and Dave this Saturday.
Rachel and Matt, through various events, are hoping to raise £4,000 before next April for the charity which works to prevent sudden infant death syndrome, and promote safe baby care advice.
Rachel said: “We found it very helpful speaking to other parents in similar circumstances and the foundation continues to support us with our other children.”
Family friend Steve Read is helping to organise Saturday’s event and said he hoped the evening would “kick-start” their fundraising.
The Lickey End resident, a butcher in Barnt Green, has also begun training for next year’s London Marathon where he will be running for the charity.
For more information about the evening, which starts at 6.30pm, call Rachel on 0786 166 4658. Tickets are £10. To find out more about the charity visit www.fsid.org.uk.
