QUEENIE, a rather big fat pig, has had her bacon saved by a Bromsgrove animal sanctuary.
The rare breed porker has lived at London Zoo for many years but when management decided they could no longer keep her, she was offered to Hillfields Animal Sanctuary, where she now resides.
Owner of the sanctuary at Greenhill, in Blackwell, Lynne Tudor, said: “We are having a bric-a-brac sale on Sunday so visitors will be able to meet Queenie then.
“She is a lovely old girl and has settled down well.”
The sanctuary cares for about 300 animals including horses, cats, dogs, goats and sheep.
Lynne said that other fundraising activities have been washed out this year so she is hoping for a good turnout, weather permitting, this Sunday, to pay for the mounting animal food costs.
The event starts at 11am on Sunday, October 5..
