ONE of Birmingham’s best loved, enduring and most acclaimed entertainers, Malcolm Stent, will shortly be heading to Inkberrow Village Hall.

Malcolm will be appearing there on Saturday, October 11, in a Mouthpiece Production of his one man show – ‘Go and Play Up Your Own End’ – to help raise much needed funds for Inkberrow Football Club.

The club has developed a reputation for the quality of its coaching and its standards of behaviour, and is an FA Charter Standard Community Club and was Regional and County Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2004 and 2007.

Chairman John Oxley explains: “We’ve enjoyed tremendous growth in recent years and have twelve junior teams, four senior, and development squads for younger children.

“However, we have only one full-sized pitch and two mini-soccer pitches and this means we can’t cope with our numbers. We have embarked upon a project to develop three new football pitches on seven acres of land adjacent to the existing playing field, and have had a grant of around £100,000 from the Football Foundation and a grant of £10,000 from Wychavon District Council to develop the pitches and we have been staging a number of fundraising initiatives in an effort to find another £50,000 to support the development project.

“This evening with Malcolm will be a great help in our efforts and we’re delighted he’s coming. We’re looking forward to a great evening.”

Keith Potts, of Mouthpiece, says: “Malcolm is looking forward to the show. He’s a great Birmingham City supporter and loves his football so he's really pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile cause.

“There'll be plenty of jokes and anecdotal fun with his memories of his youth and tales of life in the back streets of Birmingham, and he’ll be throwing in the odd song or two for good measure. The audience will have a great night of comedy and music.”
