CASH, clothing and keys were taken from an elderly woman during a distraction burglary in Bromsgrove.
A man called at the woman’s home in Santridge Lane, offering to do some gardening work. While the woman went out with him into her back garden, a second offender is believed to have entered her home taking the items.
The man who called at the door is white, aged between 25 and 30-years-old, 5ft 6in tall with a stocky build, with dark curly hair and a white top. He spoke in a local accent.
PC Warren Edmunds, from Bromsgrove police, said: “We are appealing to anyone who saw a male of this description, or any unusual activity in the area on Friday, to give police a call.
“Equally if a man of this description has offered to do gardening work for you in the past then we would like to hear from you.
“We are also urging anyone with elderly or vulnerable neighbours to make sure they are aware of this incident and to be vigilant. Encourage them to use spyholes and safety chains and to double-check the identity of any caller at their door.” Anyone with information should call Bromsgrove police on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
