Silhillians 36 Droitwich under-16s 5
DROITWICH travelled to Silhillians on Sunday with an under-strength scratch side, but still put up a creditable performance for the first game of the season.
Early honours were even with both sides probing to find an opening in some well organised defences.
Silhillians finally broke through with a neat move, scoring under the posts and taking the conversion.
Droitwich stepped up their game but could not convert some excellent play into points. Silhillians finally took control of the first half with two quick tries and another conversion.
Droitwich did rally late in the first half with Sam O’Brien diving over to score in the corner. The first half ended 19-5 to Silhillians.
The second half started much as the first with both teams looking to progress, but Silhillians having the more balanced team finally gained the upper hand with three tries and a conversion sealing the game.
