A MYSTERY object that appeared in Lickey has caused many residents to scratch their heads and has made the phones at the Advertiser/Messenger red hot from people wondering what it could be.
Suggestions ranging from a hi-tech speed camera to solar panelled mobile phone mast were made as to what the object at the top of Rose Hill was, but wecan reveal it is a weather station.
A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council, said: “The pole that is on the grass verge in Lickey in Rose Hill is a county council weather station.
“The weather station will supply the county council with accurate information about the weather in the area, so we can carry the appropriate winter maintenance on the roads. This would include, gritting, and snow clearing.
“The weather station will supply us with up to date temperature readings so that we can prepare for adverse weather in the area."
