A POLICE officer who arrested a shoplifter while off-duty has received a commendation.
PC Greg Moorman was off-duty in Rubery on January 26 this year, when he saw two youths acting suspiciously. After following them into a nearby chemist, he saw one stealing perfume.
PC Moorman approached the man and identified himself as a police officer taking the youth back to the shop, where he produced stolen fragrances worth almost £400. Following the incident, PC Moorman examined the store’s CCTV system and identified the youth as being responsible for three previous thefts.
Chief Superintendent David Spencer said: “PC Moorman fully deserves a divisional commendation for his excellent policing skills and dedication to duty which led to the offender’s arrest.”
