JUNIOR RUGBY: Droitwich under-16s lost their North Midlands Plate first round clash against Malvern 16-12.
Malvern were awarded a penalty in the first minute and took an early three-point lead.
Further pressure from the Malvern backs saw them score two unconverted tries and a penalty to take the score to 11-0 at half-time.
A different Droitwich emerged for the second half, and Sam O’Brien scored with one of his trademark powerful runs. The try was not converted.
Droitwich had now found their game and Ollie Cooke ran on and touched down a kick over the try line by Ollie Swift.
Swift added a conversion but Spa were unable to complete a dramatic comeback.
