BROMSGROVE Rovers drew 2-2 with Hednesford Town in their first pre-season friendly last night (Tuesday).
An impressive first half performance, particularly from two new players, saw them go in 2-0 up at half time.
Rovers took the game to their opponents from the start and on only four minutes, a good cross from Cameron Jones saw Josh McKenzie just fail to get a header towards goal.
McKenzie, signed recently from Alvechurch, was impressive and he set up another new boy Dexter Ravenhill for a shot which he put away on 16 minutes.
McKenzie himself got the reward his efforts deserved on 21 minutes when he picked up a long ball from Oliver O’Connell, took it on and placed it past Woodhall in goal to make it 2-0.
Six minutes later, Ravenhill just shot over in the box after he had received the ball from a corner and turned well.
McKenzie was again involved on 29 minutes when he held the ball up well for Paul Lloyd to shoot wide then went close himself.
The second half was different in terms of the pattern of play, Hednesford coming into the game more, with Karl Lewis forced into a great save from Leon Brown.
Sam Aiston pulled a goal back for Hednesford then Danny Campbell had a header cleared off the line for Bromsgrove.
Marlon Walters and Luke Barlone came on for their debuts but poor defending saw Hednesford let in for an equaliser through Ross Dyer.
Starting line up: Karl Lewis, Sander Milicev, Oliver O’Connell, Jemiah Richards, Max Elliot, Paul Lloyd, Cameron Jones, Andy Wells, Josh McKenzie, Dexter Ravenhill. Luke Findley.
Substitutes used: Christian Crisp, Scott Moore, Danny Campbell, Nathaniel Waite, Kevin Banner, Marlon Walters, Luke Barlone
