WHAT Members of Parlia-ment get up to has been making a lot of headlines over the last few months, so what play could be more appropriate than Out of Order?
For a start it’s about the shenanigans of an MP, and secondly it’s a farce.
Local theatre group All & Sundry will be performing Out of Order, by Ray Cooney, at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham from Tuesday, September 22 to 26.
It will be their second visit to the city, their first having been September last year with the successful An Inspector Calls.
The play is about Richard Willey, a Government junior minister, who has planned to spend the evening with Jane Worthington, one of the opposition’s typists.
His plans, however, soon start to fall apart beginning with the discovery of a body trapped in the hotel.
Desperately trying to get out of an extremely sticky situation, Richard calls for his secretary, George Pigden, who only makes things worse.
The situation deteriorates even further with the arrival of Ronnie, Jane’s husband, an unscrupulous waiter, and the arrival of Mrs Willey.
