Bromsgrove Rovers 1 Woodford United 2 Woodford United completed a league double over Bromsgrove Rovers at The Victoria Ground with a goal in each half.
The game survived a late pitch inspection but such was the poor quality of football that left the crowd watching wishing the game had been called off.
After a poor start by both teams it was the visitor's who were to threaten the Rovers goal and after a spell of pressure it was Woodford who claimed the first goal of the game in the 26th minute.
Lewis Travers put the ball in from the right, the ball was only partially cleared, Neil King headed back towards goal and the ball fell to the feet of Howard Forinton, who looked in an offside position but no flag arrived and the striker coolly slotted home past Karl Lewis from close range.
Ten minutes later Woodford created another chance and should have doubled their advantage.
King's right wing cross found Glen Hawkins and he completely missed the ball with a flying header. Minutes later the visitors failed to capitalize on another chance, this time Lewis raced out of goal to beat Hawkins in a race to reach through ball from Travers.
Two minutes before the interval The Greens threatened the Woodford goal but Gary Ray's soft header was easily saved by goalkeeper Matt Findlay.
Disaster struck for Rovers at the start of the second-half as Hawkins raced onto a Craig Pearman through ball and as Ryan Keen and Shane Maydew closed in the striker fired low into the bottom left hand corner past Lewis to double Woodford's advantage.
Maydew climbed highest to meet Kevin Banner's left wing cross but guided his header straight into Findlay's arms in the 51st minute.
Twelve minutes later substitute Banner's free-kick was headed back across goal by Maydew but McKenzie at the far post could not turn the ball home.
In the 80th minute Woodford were awarded a penalty after Lewis fouled Forinton as he came to clear. Hawkins stepped up to take the spot kick but Lewis dived low to his right to push the ball away to make amends.
Rovers tried to salvage something from the game six minutes from time Banner's rasping effort just cleared the Woodford crossbar.
Dexter Ravenhill scored what turned out to be a consolation goal, cutting inside the area and curling an effort past Findlay into the bottom right hand corner.
