BROMSGROVE ROVERS gave their hopes of climbing away from the lower reaches of the Zamaretto Southern League Midland Division a huge boost at the weekend.
It came when they recorded their first win for six matches as they completed a league double over a hard working Marlow side at the Victoria Ground 2-0.
This vital victory, which should lift spirits all round at the trouble plagued club, was secured with second half goals which came from Stuart Hall and Pheon Jolly’s extremely late strike.
It provided caretaker manager Steve Daniels with his first win in charge to follow up the 1-1 draw with Bedworth, and the Greens were hoping to take that form into last night’s (Tue) visit to Atherstone.
The Marlow match saw new signings Alex Roofe and Sam Wills, both joining from Willenhall Town, make their debuts.
Before last night’s match Rovers were on the 23 point mark from 26 matches – an 11 point lead over bottom but one club Barton Town but they do have two matches in hand on Rovers.
Aylesbury continue to occupy bottom spot with just seven points from 28 games.
Rovers were, of course, deducted 10 points for going into administration earlier this season.
They could pick up more points this weekend as they go to struggling Aylesbury (3pm).
When the two sides met way back in September Rovers won 5-0 at the Victoria Ground.
Meanwhile Rovers have announced several re-arranged fixture dates.
They will play away at Sutton Coldfield Town on Monday, March 22, followed by trips to Barton Town on Tuesday, April 13 and Beaconsfield on Monday, April 19, while they will be at home to Slough Town on Thursday, March 25. All the matches will kick-off at 7.45pm.
