A BROMSGROVE business has welcomed a royal visitor to mark a landmark moment in the company’s history.
Prince Edward visited LG Harris earlier today, (March 29), which is one of Bromsgrove's largest employers and manufacturer of paint brushes and decorating equipment for over 80 years.
The royal visitor took up an invitation from the family-run firm as this year it celebrates 50 years since being awarded a Royal Warrant.
The Duke of Kent arrived in a helicopter shortly after 10am, and went on to spend an hour being shown round the Stoke Prior factory.
Andrew Harris, chairman of the firm and son of the company’s founder, led the Prince on the tour which included the board room, factory floor and conference room.
During the visit the Prince met staff and employees, opened a new testing laboratory, and unveiled a plaque to mark 50-years of the firm supplying goods to the Royal Family.
After the event, Mr Harris said: “It was a great honour to be able to talk to the Duke and guests about how LG Harris began and how the company has grown over the years despite difficult market conditions. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved and is sure to go down in Harris’ history.”
LG Harris Ltd was awarded a Royal Warrant in 1961.
