NEW Droitwich RFC first team captain Dean Goddard has challenged his side to win promotion from the Midlands Division Four West (South).
Spa started the season with a comfortable victory over Evesham on Saturday and now Goddard expects a side made up of young players to keep the wins coming.
Last year's campaign saw Droitwich fade after a bright started and end fourth.
He said: "Promotion is the aim this season. We came close last time and I think that's what we should be going for.
"We've got a few new faces in and a lot of younger players coming through so the team is looking good.
"We're probably stronger than last season because the younger guys have learned a lot more.
"It was important to win our first game of the season. We really worked hard and the guys performed when they needed to, so it was nice.
"It was my first game as captain and it was good for us to get the right result."
Spa face a stiff challenge with a game at home to Worcester this Saturday (3pm start).
"Wherever the game is it's going to be a very hard match because Worcester are a very good side," added Goddard.
