A TALENTED Bromsgrove guitarist is urging townsfolk to support her as she attempts to win a national music competition.
Katherine Priddy is a young folk guitarist who has already made a video for her original song, Fragile, which reached number 1 on the Next BRIT thing chart.
The nationwide Next BRIT thing competition, backed by the UK music industry, The Brit Awards and the Government, sees 11-19-year-olds compete to take the title.
The competition winner scoops a recording session at the legendary Abbey Road studios, BRIT aqard tickets, a share of £10,000 worth of music equipment shared with the winner's school, and a chance to play at the O2 arena in London.
Winning the competition could also give Katherine the big break needed to make it in the music industry.
The 17-year-old South Bromsgrove High School pupil said her music is homegrown, inspired by Bromsgrove’s countryside, and nurtured at small acoustic gigs.
“To be recognised on a national scale amongst the thousands of other brilliant musicians would be truly incredible,” she said.
“I feel like I am a very small fish in a very big pond full of talent, so it would be an absolute honour and a huge surprise if I won.”
To support Katherine vote online for her track at nextbritthing.com/profile/gaiarose, or search for Next BRIT thing on facebook.
Voting closes on December 16.
