CATSHILL residents are being reminded to have their say in a consultation on the future of the village’s library service.

The consultation is part of a countrywide review of libraries which seeks to save £1.8 million - 28 per cent - from the service’s current budget.

The approach so far has been to share some library buildings with other services, work closer with partners on the running and delivery of services, and to see where local people could get more involved.

Catshill Library, described by Worcestershire County Council as the most under-used in the county, has just more than 1,000 members, compared with the county average of 9,500 members per branch.

The council is keen to help facilitate a service which could be run by local volunteers from nearby Catshill Middle School.

The three month consultation on the proposals started in June, and residents are being asked for their thoughts on the suggestion, and to register their interest in playing a part in running the service.
