BROMSGROVE firefighters were called to car fire this afternoon, (August 26).
The incident happened at 1pm in Birmingham Road, near to its junction with Golden Cross Lane.
The driver, a man who was with a woman and a young child, pulled up after smelling burning. He ran across the road, to a nearby petrol station, and borrowed a fire extinguisher. He then used it to put out the electrical fire.
Firefighters attended and made the car safe.
A spokesman from Bromsgrove Fire Station said the man's quick thinking prevented a bigger fire, and saved the car from being written off.
