MADAM - Shame on Bromsgrove Council proposing a £42 million sticking plaster scheme to ease congestion on the A38.
(Read original story: Have a say on £50m plans to improve A38 in Bromsgrovere)
Bromsgrove desperately needs an Eastern bypass (around £65 million I believe)to future proof our town to support housing and jobs.
I fear if this gamble goes ahead then the sustainable bypass will be shelved forever.
Shoehorning a dangerous third lane down Birmingham Road by reducing pavements and removal of the marked safety area down the centre will merely speed traffic to the still present bottlenecks such as islands and lights, also increasing noise and pollution for Birmingham Road residents.
Three narrower lanes of traffic will be hazardous with all the wide vehicles using this road.
Residents attempting to enter or leave their properties as well as pedestrians crossing the road will be forced to negotiate three unbroken lines of fast moving traffic, cyclists will also be in danger.
The Eastern bypass is the only long term fix providing two roads to share the congestion. This is not a time for chancing with people's lives.
Build the Eastern bypass.
