I HAVE spent most of my life in Bromsgrove and there is nothing I would like more than to see a successful redevelopment of the town centre.
However, the news that the first step in this development involves the demolition of one of the few buildings of any architectural and historical interest in the town brings me close to despair.
Five years ago, when I ceased being chairman of governors at Parkside Middle School, I suggested in a letter to the Bromsgrove Society that, in view of the proposed new school building, it should consider having this fine old building listed. If only the society had taken up my suggestion then!
I ask myself why I continue to live in this town, which seems bent on self-destruction.
Ann Holmes, Bromsgrove.
