I HAVE learned that Bromsgrove’s Dolphin Centre is not now allowed to reimburse spectators for parking charges while attending with a ‘private club’ ie Bromsgrove Swimming Club.
While we’ve recently seen great success in the swimming at the Olympics, how is this going to encourage parents of club members to stay and watch their children? No doubt it’s another green measure.
I can’t quite understand how the council feels it’s losing any money by letting this concession go. Ok, it’s a private club, but don’t the members like me pay enough already? I'm close to £2,000 per year now!
What exactly does it cost to run a car park? Answer, much less if you stop sending traffic vultures around at unsocial hours to catch us out.
Now I won’t be paying the ‘parking tax’ as £2.80 per week makes a hefty extra £130 hole in my finances.
What I will do is park on the road and walk up instead. So we’ll all still attend, make a nuisance of ourselves with on -treet parking (I'm not saying where in case they have the yellow paint ready) and BDC will have taken/reimbursed the same amount of revenue!
