ATTENDING one of my regular appointments with my doctor at the Ryefield Road surgery, Stoke Prior, which is a branch of the Davenal House Practice. I was shocked to see a notice warning all patients of the possible closure of the dispensary service and possibly even the surgery too.
I feel this is a matter which needs to be brought to the attention of the people in the Stokes, Woodgate etc, as a point of urgency.
Speaking from my family’s experience of this practice for over forty years we have always had first class care and attention.
As an elderly, long-term disabled person with no car, I would find it extremely difficult to have to rely on a Bromsgrove source for my many prescriptions, blood tests etc. I cannot travel by bus, my family work long hours so cannot always be available for me and if I could afford to use a taxi service, I still have to get to the pharmacy despite being unable to walk more than a few yards.
Added to which, I would not have a pharmacist who knows me and my condition and whom I know and can trust when I have a problem with my pills. Now my husband has become a chronic invalid which adds to our problems.
I am asking all those that use and value our surgery to write immediately to the Chief Executive of the Primary Care Trust and also to our MP, Julie Kirkbride. The surgery will give them the relevant addresses. I believe a petition is also being prepared.
This is urgent. I beg the residents of Stoke Prior to write now before it is too late.
Mrs ER Scoffield Stoke Prior
