MY daughter and I visited Bromsgrove on a Saturday morning to do some shopping.

We could have eaten or had a drink at any number of establishments. And guess what, surprise, surprise, in the not too distant future Pizza Express will be joining our High Street.

Does anyone in the ivory tower that is the council offices ever walk down the High Street or do the people that have the power to invite new businesses into our town think we need feeding up because we have no kitchens at home?

When will they realise they are contributing to the demise of our High Street by reducing the number of shops we have to actually shop in. Even my children comment on the closing shops and the number of mobile ‘phone, charity and coffee shops.

I have a nine and 13 -year-old and if I want to clothe them I now have to go to either the dreaded Merry Hill or the Kingfisher Centre in Redditch, which at least has a variety of shops for me to dress my children.

What do we have to do to make these people take notice? The High Street is gasping it’s last breath and you are tolling the death knell for our town and no amount of farmers’ markets will bring people back into the High Street if there are no 'proper' shops to shop in.
