Boars fall short in Twenty20

Visitors Kidderminster won the toss and elected to bat.

They opened their innings with Mark Mansell scoring 15 of the first 18 runs, before he was caught by Tom Hill from Nick Husbands' bowling.

The partnership between Craig Wood and Neil Pinner (29) produced 60 runs and ended when Pinner fell to a catch by Valeed Butt from a delivery by Boars skipper Mark Evenson.

Kidderminster's Jonathan Wright had scored a quick 23 but he departed to a catch by Evenson.

The bowler was Lyndon Jones, and the visitors had racked up 114 runs in 14 overs.

Ted Baylis, skipper of Kidderminster's cup team, scored 19 runs before being bowled by Omar Ali.

Phil Shaw only had three balls to face and scored a 4 off the first one with a cheeky reverse sweep.

Wood had batted well, and his 58 not out included five fours and a six.

For The Boars, Jones took 1-16, while Evenson finished with 1-20, Nick Husbands 1-38 and Omar Ali 1-41.

Bromsgrove's opening pair, Jayden Levitt and Omar Ali put on 61 before Omar was bowled by Baylis for 28.

Levitt looked set for a big score and reached 53 when he was bowled by Pinner.

The Boars were always in with a chance, either keeping up with the rate or getting in front of it.

At the 10 over stage, Kidderminster had scored 81 while Bromsgrove had gone one better with 82.

Butt was bowled Mansell (3-17) for 18 and Tom Green was caught by Wood off Mario Saliwa's (2-28) bowling for 22.

However, Bromsgrove were still fighting and by the 17th over had scored 140 whereas Kidderminster had only managed 127 at the same point in their innings.

But the target of 25 off the last three overs proved too much and they were bowled out for 155 with three balls left.

The tail-end batsmen were faced with dreadful rain and it was a credit to both teams that the game was an excellent spectacle with an exciting finish.
