Bromsgrove Sporting's run of good away form came to an end last Saturday with a defeat at Leamington.
The Rouslers were the better side for much of the game but as with other matches this season, they failed to take advantage when in a dominant position and for this match, poor discipline left them with just nine players on the pitch at the end.
Conor Tee and Billy Shaw had chances for Sporting early on but somewhat against the run of play, The Brakes took the lead on the 13th minute when a long ball up field found Tyrone Barnett who passed to striker Henry Landers and despite being put under pressure by the away defence managed to find the back of the net with a powerful shot.
The rest of the half saw a hatful of chances for the Rouslers with Tee and Shaw continuing to do well but denied by the Leamington defence. Unfortunately midfielder Jack Newell had to go off injured and was replaced by Ayo Lekuti returning to Bromsgrove after impressing last season.
Sporting began the second half as they ended the first putting their opponents under plenty of pressure but found themselves down to ten men when Tris Dunkley received a yellow on 58 minutes for impeding a goal-kick only to get another for arguing with the decision, so off he went for an early shower.
Things then got worse for the visitors on 80 minutes when player/manager Mike McGrath received a straight red after a foul on substitute Cally Stewart on the edge of the box was deemed to be stopping a goal-scoring opportunity.
Moments later, former Rousler, Josh Quaynor forced Ollie Taylor into a quality save from the resulting free-kick.
With just a few minutes to go Quaynor pulled down Sporting substitute Gus Sanches not far from the Leamington goal but on this occasion Mr Templey only brandished a yellow card much to the annoyance of the Bromsgrove players and fans.
Despite being two men down Sporting kept pushing forward but with the clock just slipping into added time, Leamington made a break that saw Barnett double their lead and so the match ended with a 2-0 win for the home side.
Sporting line-up: Ollie Taylor, Aksum White, Billy Shaw (Gus Sanches 77 mins), Jack Newell (Ayo Lekuti 38 mins), Aaron Roberts, Mike McGrath, Callum King-Harmes (Miro Pais 68 mins), Keanu Cooper, Tris Dunkley, Conor Tee Luke Rowe (Capt). Unused substitutes: Kane Auld, David Solademi.
