CAPTAIN Mark Evenson has hailed the strength in depth of his Bromsgrove CC side after they moved back into the Birmingham and District League Division One promotion places with a victory at Harborne.
The Boars put a mini-slump behind them with a comfortable win, once again led by Jayden Levitt who hit 64 not out to help his team reach their target.
In a reduced game, Harborne made 143-6 from 30 overs, and Bromsgrove comfortably chased down the target to secure a seven-wicket success.
Chairman Nick Husbands grabbed two wickets on his return to the first team while there was also two wickets for Lyndon Jones.
And Evenson believes being able to call on players like Husbands has been the key in the side's success.
He said: "From our point of view to challenge in the league you need a squad of players and to have people like Nick Husbands to bring in is great.
"It shows how far we have come this season. It is no longer live or die by the sword.
"We have got more of a backbone and more of a brittleness about us.
"We are playing good cricket and it is our best chance to challenge for promotion in nine or 10 years."
Bromsgrove welcome Halesowen to St Godwald's Park this Saturday and will be without all-rounder Jones, but Tom Green returns to the team.
Barnt Green skipper Dougie Brown has urged his players to carry on playing attacking cricket in their pursuit of the Birmingham and District League Premier Division title.
Despite a losing draw to championship rivals Walsall on Saturday, Green are still 22 points clear at the top.
Having been set 243 to win, Green held on for a share of the points, finishing with 163-5.
Brown said: "It goes without saying, that is how we play our cricket and that is what works for us.
"You are not going to go all season without a hiccup, it is part and parcel but it is important we come back from there.
"We bowled first on a wicket which was good to bowl on, but we passed the bat without success.
"We wanted to win it but we weren't allowed to because they bowled well.
"We didn't want to give them points for no reason.
"It was a ridiculous situation as we were chasing 10 or 12 runs an over at one stage."
Green host West Bromwich Dartmouth at Cherry Hill Road this Saturday.
