A Bromsgrove sports club is set to host a 'Festival of Sport Open Day'.

Bromsgrove Cricket, Hockey and Tennis Club (BCHTC) will stage its open day on Sunday, May 26 at Aston Fields in hopes of inspiring people in the area to take part in sports and physical fitness.

Offering a lineup of cricket, hockey and tennis matches, guests will get to have a look at the club's facilities and get involved in sport.

In addition to the matches, there will be a DJ, bar, food van and opportunities to take part in sample sessions.

The festival is part of a broader initiative by Bromsgrove District Council to engage with the government's Levelling up campaign.

BCHTC aims to attract people from all skill levels to the event in efforts to encourage an active lifestyle and provide an inclusive environment.

The event will be hosted by BCHTC's current home at St Godwalds Park, at which it has been based for five decades this year after moving from the now Harwood Park in 1974.

The day will kick-off with tennis exhibition matches featuring county champions at 1pm, followed by a hockey mixed match against county best at 3.30pm.

The main event of the day, a cricket T20 match between Bromsgrove XI v Worcestershire CCC (Academy), will take place at 5pm.

The event is free and open to all.
