A Bromsgrove care home is gearing up to host its very own Olympic-inspired sports day for the community.

Chandler Court will be bringing Paris to Bromsgrove on Saturday, July 27 from 11am to 4pm.

The event is part of The Big Care UK Sports Day, an initiative hosting sports days across 130 Care UK homes across the UK.

The day aims to bring the community together and provide an opportunity for the public to understand what life is really like in a care home.

Activities will include egg-and-spoon races, a tug of war and a wheelchair race.

To up the stakes, winners get the chance to walk away with their very own gold medals.

Alongside the days sporting activities, attendees will be able to enjoy a barbecue prepared by the home’s head chef.

The guests can also look forward to live entertainment from Startime Variety, who will perform a medley of summer songs.

Tina Lilly, the care home's manager, said: "We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our own sporting celebrations.

"We are part of a strong community here in Bromsgrove, and days like this are a fantastic way of bringing us all together for a little healthy competition and to celebrate this year’s summer of sport, all while showcasing exactly what life is like here at Chandler Court.

"The day not only promises a lot of laughter and enjoyment for all involved, but also is an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones – while keeping active.

"We can’t wait until kick-off."
