BROMSGROVE Sporting began pre-season in style with two 3-0 away wins.

Paul Smith's side, who visit Stourport Swifts on Tuesday (7.45pm), won at Worcester Raiders last week before securing the same scoreline at AFC Wulfrunians.

As with their previous match against Raiders, the Rouslers dominated proceedings from the outset last Saturday.

But chances were few until the 12th minute for Sporting, who find out their 2024-25 Southern League Premier Division Central fixtures on Saturday, when lively winger Billy Shaw put a good chance wide.

Wulfrunians paid the price for over-committing going forward when away keeper Charlie Price saved and hoisted the ball up the pitch for summer signing Harry Crook to skilfully slide home with a single touch.

Boss Smith made seven changes at the start of the second half and Sporting doubled their lead on 55 minutes when Keanu Cooper headed in Luke Rowe's corner.

Three minutes later Aaron Bishop ran into the box before passing to Zac Powell who found the top corner.

Bishop had an effort blocked and Cooper hit the woodwork.

Shaq Leachman-Whittingham and Kieran Cook scored penalties in the win against Raiders with trialist Powell also on target.

Ex-Westfields and Hereford Pegasus midfielder Powell, 17, has signed permanently for Sporting after initially joining the under 21s with Smith describing him as a "very exciting prospect".

Sporting, who now visit Lichfield City on Saturday (3pm), have retained Callum King-Harmes to join fellow midfielders Rowe, Shaw, Cooper and Jack Newell along with defender Aaron Roberts.

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove have a big pre-season game with the under 21s team of West Midlands giants Birmingham City coming up next Tuesday at the Victoria Ground (7.45pm).

The club will be hosting a showcase on the day for existing sponsors and businesses who may be interested in seeing what Sporting can offer.

It is free to attend and starts from 5pm.

There will be the chance to network with existing sponsors and talk to the expanding commercial team about the packages available which cater for a range of budgets.

All attendees are able to stay for the match too.
