BROMSGROVE Sporting made it four wins and clean sheets from as many pre-season games on Saturday courtesy of a 1-0 win at Lichfield City.
A Callum King-Harmes strike in the 42nd minute proved the difference between the sides on a rainy afternoon.
Sporting's George Forsyth blocked a 12th-minute strike whilst Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham headed over for the visitors midway through the first half.
Chances came for Sporting as new signing Jamie Meddows had a strike saved, Kieran Cook struck wide from a sharp angle and Aaron Bishop had a header cleared off the line.
The game's only goal came before half-time as King-Harmes netted from inside the box despite the keeper making contact with the ball.
Lichfield had a couple of good chances early in the second half which included a shot from former Rousler Joe Haines that keeper Charlie Price saved smartly.
Reece King and Bishop could not make the most of headed efforts just shy of the hour mark.
Lichfield had a header cleared off the line before Price had to be alert once more to steer a free-kick away.
A Bromsgrove trialist had a couple of chances late on with the second being a free-kick that was saved.
Attacker Meddows has joined from Stourport Swifts after picking up last season's manager’s player-of-the-season award.
Fellow forward Josh Willis, who only signed in the summer from Pershore Town, has departed to play full-time football in Australia with Armadale.
Last week Sporting won 4-0 at Stourport Swifts in a pre-season friendly with Bishop (penalty), Billy Shaw (2) and Leachman-Whittingham scoring.
Sporting will start their 2024-25 Southern League Premier Division Central season at Hitchin Town on Saturday, August 10.
The first home fixture is on Tuesday, August 13 against Stratford Town.
Games with Stourbridge will be at home on Boxing Day and away on Easter Monday with matches against Halesowen Town at home on August Bank Holiday and away on New Year's Day.
Sporting face neighbours Redditch United at home on Tuesday, September 24 and away on Saturday, March 29 with Alvechurch at home on Saturday, November 30 and away on Saturday, February 22.
Their final game of the season is at home to Bishop’s Stortford at the Victoria Ground on Saturday, April 26.
Sporting, who host Birmingham City under 21s on Tuesday this week (7.45pm), continue pre-season when they entertain Solihull Moors on Saturday (3pm) and visit Boldmere St Michaels next Tuesday (7.45pm).
