Hat-trick hero Josh Hurdman steered Droitwich Spa to a 5-3 win over Wantage Town.

The Hellenic League Division 1 match began dramatically on Saturday (October 26), with Droitwich scoring just two minutes in at Alfredian Park.

Some quick passing between Jack Brighton and Hurdman allowed Alex Dugmore to set up Perry Moss for an easy tap-in.

Wantage responded, with Callum Crook forcing a good save from Droitwich's Dom Rogerson.

The home side dominated possession but struggled to convert their chances until the half-hour mark, when Owain Wheeler equalised with a powerful volley into the top corner.

Wantage had two other goals denied by the referees whistle in the first half.

Hurdman opened the second-half scoring for Droitwich on 66 minutes, latching onto a through ball before calmly finishing.

This was followed by Moss, who netted his second shortly after with a short-range volley.

Hurdman added another with a low free kick before completing his hat-trick on 85 minutes as he beat Tom Rees for a third time.

Wantage fought back with two late goals from Jack Fountain and Crook, but it was too little too late.

Droitwich's victory maintains their unbeaten start to the season and extends their lead at the top of the table to five points.
