Bromsgrove Sporting were left licking their wounds after falling to a 1-0 defeat away at AFC Sudbury.

Despite dominating the Southern League Premier Division Central clash, Sporting were undone by a heartbreaking late Oliver Peters goal in the second minute of injury time on Saturday (November 23) at the MEL Group Stadium.

The Rouslers had the majority of the game's major chances but failed to capitalise on them.

The first half saw few clear chances, with Peters teeing up Joe Neal for a strike deflected over the bar by Sporting's Ash Carter.

Sporting skipper Luke Rowe and Peters both had opportunities towards the end of the half but were unable to find the net.

Sudbury's Myles Cowling had a couple of chances early in the second half, but Bromsgrove keeper Charlie Price and Rowe blocked his efforts.

The Rouslers' Theo Robinson blazed an effort well over the bar in the 58th minute, and Reece King's shot from inside the area was blocked four minutes later.

Ryan Boothe struck wide in the 67th minute, and Jamie Meddows almost guided a cross into the goal, only to see his attempt blocked.

As the game approached the end of normal time, Aksum White found himself in on goal, but Sudbury's James Bradbook stopped him from finding the net.

The controversial winner came in the 92nd minute when Peters lobbed the ball over Price.

The Sporting players claimed that the ball struck the outstretched arm of Cowling in the build-up, but referee Michael Robertson-Tant allowed the goal to stand nonetheless

In the final minute of added time, the visitors had a flurry of chances in quick succession.

Substitute Fin Holmes had a strike saved before Meddows hit the crossbar from yards out via the rebound.

These were followed by King having an effort blocked, leaving the Rouslers wondering exactly how they had failed to score at any point during the game.
