TOM Goss was unhappy with his Droitwich Spa team’s defending despite their 4-3 Presidents Cup first round win over Newhall United.
After falling 2-0 behind, Spa staged a comeback to advance to round two, thanks to two goals from Dean Wise and strikes from Jamie Hatfield and Sean Parrish.
But defensive frailties are still a major concern for Goss, who recently moved to bring in duo Hatfield and Aaron Murphy in an attempt to bolster his back line.
He said: “I think we will have to score four or five goals to win a game at this rate.
“They are good games for people to watch but not for managers.
“We are still conceding far too many easy goals but conversely, going forward we look good.
“It is always good to win in cup games but it wasn’t necessarily a good win.”
Spa travel to Thimblemill REC this Saturday in the first round of the Endsleigh Challenge Cup.
Droitwich Spa Reserves host Cadbury Athletic Reserves in Midland Combination Division Two.
