ALEX Strutt is recharged and ready to resume his boxing career after taking time out from the sport.

The former Droitwich ABC fighter has endured a stop-start professional career, having only fought twice since joining the paid ranks last September.

Between victories over Lance Verallo and Ben Hudson, Strutt suffered an injury knock back.

He was left frustrated in May when his next scheduled fight was cancelled after a last minute withdrawal by his opponent and instead he took part in a tame exhibition contest with stablemate Dean Mitchell.

It was a draining experience for Strutt, who admits it helped shape his decision to take a few months out of boxing.

But now he is ready to return for his third bout on November 14 at Birmingham’s Holiday Inn.

He said: “I was really frustrated by it so I had some time out.

“I think I needed it as I had been training really hard for a year and a half, so the break did me really good.”

Now the Richie Woodall-trained fighter is intent on making up for lost time.

He resumed training last week at Woodall’s Birmingham gym and has already been surprised by his own fitness levels.

Strutt also revealed he is hoping for a step up in the quality of his opponents.

He added: “I want to be boxing every six weeks. Time is ticking but I’ve got potential there, my boxing is there and I have got good power.

“After this I’ve got some more fights lined up but I am not looking too far ahead.

“I started camp last Monday for six weeks and I am already feeling good.

“I am looking forward to doing it an I can’t wait to get out there.

“I feel I owe my supporters a little bit as they a lot of people paid a lot of money last time.”
