ROSE Hill Golf Club have won the Birmingham Alliance Division One league for the first time since 1992.
The title went to Rose Hill after they finished second in the final round of the season at Pype Heyes Golf Club.
Captain Julian Westwood expressed his congratulations to all the members who represented the club throughout the seven rounds, which began in April at Cocks Moor Wood.
Rose Hill have had a distinguished record in the Alliance League but in recent years have struggled with a decline in membership which has affected the ability to field consistently strong teams.
However, having been promoted from Division Two last season, they finished in the top three in each round, meaning they three points ahead of runners up Tamworth.
The Alliance League was formed in the 1920s to promote the playing of golf between golf clubs in the Birmingham area.
In addition, the Alliance represents the interests of member clubs based on municipal courses with their local authority.
Deryck Walker, secretary of Rose Hill, said that he hoped for the continued resurgence of the club following the unfortunate fire that wrecked the club room at the Lickeys-based course.
He said: “The success of the Alliance team reflected on the determination and the spirit of the membership.”
