COACH Ross Baxter believes that his in-form Bromsgrove side will be fired up for Saturday’s Midlands Division Two West clash away at Stratford-upon-Avon.

The Boars are still smarting from a heavy defeat in Warwickshire last season, but are full of confidence after winning their four first games of the season.

The Finstall Park side will also be even more determined to win for experienced number eight Nigel Burrows, who used to play for Stratford.

“We will be motivated for Stratford because we lost by thirty points there last season,” said Baxter.

“This time all the players will be wanting to make sure that Nigel, who always gives 180 per cent and use to play for Stratford, will be able to walk off the pitch with his head held high.

“Our home form has been excellent and we want the players to replicate that form on our travels.

“The Stratford defeat last season has stuck with is and we’re determined to revenge that loss.”

Bromsgrove are on confident form after a 33-14 demolition of Camp Hill at home on Saturday.

Baxter was delighted by his players’ efforts, who responded for the coaching team’s calls for more tries with an emphatic victory.

“We asked the players to play more expansively against Camp Hill and they players did just that,” said Baxter.

“The team are doing everything we have asked of them so far this season.

“The players have reached a stage where they know that those they stand shoulder to shoulder with will leave everything on the pitch.

“We made the team more competitive at the second half of last season and they have built on that.

Now they’re working from a solid structure and gaining confidence from these good results.”

Drew Harper and Dan Ingram are injury worries for Bromsgrove’s trip to Stratford in the league (3pm start).
