Brilliant Bromsgrove Ladies continued their winning run with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Kidderminster.
Missing key players, Alice Taylor and Tricky Burton, Town opened the scoring within two minutes when good interplay between player of the match Charlie Cole and Erica Reeves set up Heather Nunnerley.
Her fierce shot was only partially saved and Ange Gibson tucked home the loose ball.
Although dominating possession, Town struggled to find the killer touch.
Newcomer Lucy Higgon went close after a mazy run through the Kidderminster defence.
But straight from the second half restart they stretched their lead.
Lucy Taylor won a ball on the left hand side, this was switched to right back Lisa Smiley, who surged into the D and hammered in a cross that Chrissie Ashworth hit across the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Town added to their lead when Gibson again tidied up a goalmouth scramble.
Disappointingly, Kidderminster scored following good work by their right side.
This stung Bromsgrove into action and Cole’s excellent left wing run and cross was neatly converted by Vicky Powell.
Coach Alan Gormley said: “It was a strange game for us.
“We had patches of brilliant passing and movement intermixed with some messy play.
“We need to be more consistent. Credit to the girls though as once again they battled out a good result.
“Next week will be a major test for us as we take on a Worcester side relegated from the league above us.”
Bromsgrove’s second team drew 1-1 with Harborne.
Despite missing several key players, they turned in a superb performance against promotion favourites Harborne.
Town took an early lead through Libby Joss and then held onto this with some stubborn defensive play.
New goalkeeper Bee Evans was in superb form, thwarting Harborne time and again.
Just before the game ended Harborne equalised with a controversial, but deserved goal.
The third team lost 3-1 to Bournville, with Frankie Crewe scoring.
In the Midland Regional Hockey Association West Midlands One, Bromsgrove Men drew 2-2 at home to Newtown and are away to Old Silhillians in Saturday’s game.
